Description
York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides a comprehensive range of acute hospital and specialist healthcare services for approximately 800,000 people living in and around York, North Yorkshire, North East Yorkshire and Ryedale, an area covering 3,400 square miles. With an annual turnover of over £850m, our workforce of around 10,000 staff deliver care in community settings as well as across our eight hospital sites.
As a Non-Executive Director (NED) your role will be to work alongside other NEDs, the Chair of the Trust and the Executive Directors as equal members of the unitary Board; using your skills, knowledge and expertise to direct the work of the Trust.
You will have an important part to play in forging strong links with the Council of Governors. The Council is responsible for holding the NEDs to account, both individually and collectively, for the performance of the Board. You will also have a clinical qualification and experience to deputise for the Quality Committee Chair in readiness to become Chair of the Quality Committee thereafter.
You will have expertise in managing change in complex situations, an ability to bring partners together to achieve common goals, and a clear and demonstrable commitment to living and leading to our Trust values: Kindness | Openness | Excellence. Additionally, you will contribute to the effective leadership of the Trust, helping us to navigate through challenges and capitalise on opportunities. This is an opportunity to contribute to the effective leadership of an organisation that plays a critical role both as an anchor institution and as a part of the Hull York Medical School.
The Trust is committed to increasing its Board diversity and we are particularly keen to attract candidates who bring diverse perspectives, especially those who are underrepresented at Board level in the NHS.
