Description
A wholly owned subsidiary of York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM) covers eight hospital sites and has a workforce of just over 1,000 staff working across the Trust’s hospitals and in the community, with an annual income of £91m and current capital of £70m.
Our expert teams provide specialist services to the Trust in a whole range of areas from catering and cleaning, waste management to maintenance of medical equipment and buildings and infrastructure. We are committed to being a provider of excellent estates and facilities services to York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and to ensuring that those accessing the Trust’s services experience these services positively and safely.
We are looking for an experienced estates and facilities professional to join as Managing Director to provide effective and visible leadership of YTHFM, defining and articulating the strategic direction for the company, and ensuring that the primary focus of YTHFM activity is anchored around a commitment of excellence to our customer and our end users, at the same time as being an excellent employer. The Managing Director will have overall executive accountability and responsibility for the company and for the delivery of safe, responsive and cost-effective services, reporting through YTHFM’s Management Group to the main board of York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals, providing specialist and professional advice both to the YTHFM Management Group, and the Trust’s Board and its Executive teams. The appointed individual will fulfil a pivotal role in relationships with clients and as such must have a truly customer- focused and patient-centric approach, appreciating and anticipating client priorities, and committed to developing and embedding a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
We are seeking an individual with extensive estates and facilities management experience gained at senior leadership or board level within the acute sector. A visible leader with a track record of leading large, geographically dispersed, multi-skilled teams in a customer-focused business through significant change. Above all, we are seeking an estates and facilities professional able to bring their technical expertise to bear in a leadership role by ensuring appropriate high standards of performance and behaviours with rigorous assurance methods, and a philosophy of continuous quality improvement.
With clear personal values that align to ours; a commitment to delivering excellent services to customers and capable of inspiring confidence at board level and amongst dispersed teams of multi skilled staff, this is an exciting role which offers the opportunity to positively improve the experience of those accessing the services provided by York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the experience of our colleagues working in YTHFM.
